AUGER BITS

Auger Bits are designed for boring holes in wood. They are available in several styles for various applications. Auger bits have the following six common design characteristics: the screw point, outlining spur, cutting edges, side lip cutter, flute, and shank. The screw point is at the tip of bit and it provides hole location and self feeds bit into wood. The outlining spur cuts outline of hole and helps bit stay straight in hole. The cutting edges act like horizontal cutter and chip out wood in the hole. The side lip cutters act like vertical cutters and shave the sides of hole. The flute or twist ejects the wood chips away from the cutter. The shank may be taper square, hexagon, or round depending upon what use is was designed for.

Auger Bits - Solid Center: Solid Center Auger Bits are designed for use in a hand bit brace and may be used for all general purpose boring in soft or hard woods. Polished finish, single flute design with double cutters, two outlining spurs, and a self feeding medium fast pitch screw point.
Dual Auger Bits - Hex Shank: For speedy and accurate boring in soft and hard woods. Usable with hand braces and "3/8" or larger electric drills. Single flute design with single cutter, an outlining spur, and a self feeding fast pitch screw point.
Electrician's Power Auger Bits: Bits are made of special Tool Steel. Black-oxided flutes. Three flats on shank, one "flat" has two recesses for set screws, for use with extensions. Double twist design with a single cutter, an outlining spur, and a self feeding medium fast pitch screw point. Specifically designed to fit in between building studs for the installation of conduit and wire. Ideal for use with angle power drills.
Pipe Auger Bits: Bits are made of special Tool Steel. Black oxided flutes. Double twist design with extended lip double cutters, two outlining spurs, and a self feeding medium fast pitch screw point. Specifically designed for boring holes where a smooth finish is required. Ideal for plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning.

Impact Wrench Auger Bits - 18" Length: Impact Wrench Auger Bits are designed to bore holes in telephone or power line poles quickly using quick change chuck impact drills. Two sizes of shanks fit all impact wrenches with standard 7/16" or 5/8" hex adapters. Single flute design with single cutter, side lip, and a self feeding medium fast pitch screw point.

Ship Auger Bits - 36" Length - Special Purpose: These bits are used by contractors to build wooden retaining walls. They are manufactured 1/16" larger than the size of threaded rod being used to anchor wooden ties in place, e.g., a 3/4" threaded rod would use a 13/16" auger bit.
